Allergology

Allergies are on the rise and are becoming increasingly common, especially among children and adolescents.

Description

An allergy is a misdirected immune reaction to normally harmless substances such as pollen, house dust mites, medicines and much more. This causes inflammatory reactions of the skin and mucous membranes. They manifest themselves as allergic asthma, hay fever, eczema and exanthema.

We use various skin tests and blood tests to diagnose allergic diseases. Depending on the patient and the severity of the symptoms, treatment can be carried out with medication or by means of so-called hyposensitization therapy. Small amounts of the allergen (e.g. pollen or house dust) are injected under the skin at fixed intervals. By continuously increasing the allergy dose, the immune system develops a tolerance to the administered substances.
