Facelift / neck lift

Time leaves its mark – on every face.

Description

Some marks represent a full life, others make us look exhausted and tired.
A facelift can bring a glow back to your face.
This includes a general tightening of the facial skin.
If necessary, an eyelid lift (blepharoplasty) can be performed at the same time.
Ideally, a correction of a “double chin” can also be combined. The aim of a facelift is a fresher, younger appearance. A professionally performed facelift restores previous proportions while preserving the characteristic facial features, especially when smiling. The prerequisite for this is the inclusion of the supporting structure of the skin, the so-called SMAS (“Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System”).

The intervention

The procedure takes two to three hours, depending on the extent, and is performed either under local anesthesia, twilight sleep or general anesthesia.
The incision is made behind the ears and usually along the hairline.
It is also important to tighten the deeper structures, which consist of muscles, connective tissue and fat.
This so-called SMAS is also tightened.
The skin is then folded back, the excess skin resulting from the tightening is removed and the skin edges are finally sutured as tension-free as possible.

The aftercare

After the operation, you will remain in our clinic for at least
3 hours (6 hours for general anesthesia) in our clinic, after which you may be picked up.
You should not experience any severe pain.
The first follow-up check will take place the day after the operation, further appointments will be discussed with the surgeon.
In the first few days after the facelift, there will be swelling and bruising, so that you will only be fully fit for social life again after about two weeks.
A recovery period of around two weeks should therefore be planned.
In the first few weeks after the procedure, you should avoid sporting activities, going to the sauna and direct sunlight.
In order for scars to heal, you should ensure that you use a high level of sun protection in the facial area in the following months and discuss scar aftercare with your doctor if necessary.
